INSPIRATION: The perfect shoes, fit for royalty!
Updated: Jun 9
I'm definitely not shy about my love for shoes. Heels, slippers, flip flops, boots - any kind of shoe and I am there. I must say, I also love the royals, especially the younger royals (I blame Disney for this, I've always wanted to be a princess). These two things together, with the addition of my love for weddings brings you a blog all about royal wedding shoes.
There have been so many designer choices for the royals, from Alexander McQueen to Clive Shilton. A lot of them have been bespoke for each bride, meaning even if you wanted a pair, you probably couldn't have them anyway. I've put together this blog to help you find the perfect pair of shoes that make you feel like a princess on your day.
I have kicked off with Kate Middleton as Alexander McQueen has to be my favourite designer. His designs are interesting and very different but also elegant, floral and feminine.
Sarah Burton, the head of Alexander McQueen in 2011 designed Kate's ivory and white satin and lace dress. Kate also opted for Alexander McQueen designed shoes, which very much matched her stunning dress. Made with duchesse satin and lace that was hand embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework.
Simple, classy and elegant. A stunning pair of handmade shoes if you ask me.
Although, as mentioned, these shoes were made for Kate and only Kate, so unfortunately the public are unable to buy a pair, so here are a few options I have found.
The Liliane lace pump by Gianvito Rossi is beautiful, like Kates, they are simple, classy and elegant.
They aren't the cheapest pair of shoes, but something you can keep forever. They are a timeless classic and you will have your party shoes sorted for years.
This cute pair of court shoes from simply be are an option for the brides who don't want such a high heel. They are a cheaper option and something you can dance the night away in.
A pair of flats!
I'm 4ft11, so when looking at shoes for events I always by-pass the flats. But, not everyone are midgets like me, so I thought I would include some flats!
These are from Lace and Favour. They would be perfect for a bride looking for a comfortable flat shoe. Maybe you're getting married outdoors?
The stunning Meghan Markle is next. She actually wore two pairs of shoes throughout the day, so I have gone with the ones she wore for the ceremony first.
Meghan opted for a very simple pair of Givenchy shoes to match her stunning Givenchy dress. We only saw a slight glimpse of her shoes, but what we saw of them proved to match her dress beautifully.
Here is my selection to give you that Meghan Markle sparkle (CHEEESY!)
Also, on a side note, how in love does Harry look in the picture on the right?
These stunning shoes from Charlotte Mills are actually named after Meghan Markle.
They have a sparkle, they have a chunky heel and they have an ankle strap. Perfect dancing shoes if you ask me!
I found these shoes on Zalando! They are a great price, a great height and they have a really cute pearl detail on the front (you'll probably have to reallyyyyy zoom in to see, or visit the website).
They are beautifully simplistic and the perfect shoe for a manor house wedding!
I had to include an embellished pair. Who doesn't like sparkles?
Also, Meghan's may have even had something like this on hers, as we can't actually see much past the toe.
I found these at Monsoon, I love them. They will stay on your feet, they're classic and THEY SPARKLE.
Now it's time for Meghan Markle's second pair of shoes... (I must admit, I also had two pairs of shoes, but my second pair were flats for when my feet were on fire!)
Her second pair were a stunning pair of shoes from Aquazzura. They were again, simple and white, but had a stunning light blue sole to match the aquamarine ring, gifted to her, that belonged to the late Princess Diana.
I am a fan of Aquazzura, they do some really pretty but different shoes. Although, from what we can see Meghan's were quite simple.
Here is my selection of similar shoes for you to pick from!
If you're going simple, why not go bold with a red sole from Christian Louboutin. Yes, they are pricey, but they will definitely be your pride and joy.
These are a simple, but slightly different shoe from Victoria Beckham. They would make the perfect office shoe after your wedding, or could definitely be an easy way to dress up a pair of jeans.
Princess Eugenie is next with her STUNNING Charlotte Olympia shoes. I love Charlotte Olympia's designs, but recently her website has been shut down (?!) - I must admit they are also not the cheapest pair of shoes to buy. We can't see all of her shoe, so I have focussed on the peep toe and T bar detail when looking for shoes of a similar style.
These shoes are a Roland Cartier design found at Dune. They would easily take you from day to night during your wedding day, allowing you to dance the night away!
And we're back with another Charlotte Mills design. A chunky heel, an ankle strap and some beautiful pearl detail.
I love these shoes, they look comfy, but they are so pretty.
Look at them shoes!
Princess Diana's wedding shoes were definitely a statement. They were designed by Clive Shilton, especially for her. The heels had her and Charles' initials painted on to them, and the sole had a stunning design.
I knew exactly which shoe designer to use for this blog when I saw these. So my choice, to give you your statement wedding shoe is...
Irregular Choice. Specifically the 'Hold Up'. You have a statement sole, a beautiful shoe and a similar height.
Didn't the Queen look stunning on her wedding day, but who knew she had such different wedding shoes?
Yes, they are a beautiful timeless piece, but my god, it's hard to find a pair just like them...
I have chosen this beautiful pair of shoes from Jenny Packham. Yes, they are definitely not the same, but they have the twisted fabric at the toe and the sling back heel, another timeless classic.
I am finishing this blog with the beautiful Princess Charlotte, just because she was super cute at Harry and Meghan's wedding!
Monsoon do the most beautiful flower girl shoes, I can most definitely see Kate putting Charlotte in a pair of these!
I hope I've helped you find a perfect pair of shoes for your big day.
Even if I haven't, you will most definitely look like a princess anyway!
