How do I use Instagram to plan my wedding?

It's not a secret that every wedding supplier loves Pinterest, but over 1 billion people use Instagram every month (that is an insane number!!) - So, for those people, here are some tips on how I would use Instagram for wedding planning;

1. Follow your favourite wedding suppliers, but also inspirational accounts

Ok, this might be a given but it’s worth mentioning. If an account is posting content that you just love, give them a follow. Not only will this make their day, but it will also let Instagram know that you want to see more of that type of content.

2. Search and follow specific hashtags

In addition to following accounts, you can also follow specific hashtags! I know right! I've also only just found this out. This means that photos tagged with certain hashtags will show up in your feed even if you don’t follow the accounts that posted them.

3. Save photos from your favourite suppliers

Don’t just tap that heart button and then keep on scrolling. If you really love what you see, make sure you save it!

4. Create collections within your saves

So, I must admit I'm a bit of an organisation freak when it comes to my Instagram saves, but everything is organised into folders. Honestly, everything is in categories, I have caterers, cake, bridal accessories, on the day entertainment, make up, wedding planners, stationery.. you get the picture! It will honestly save you so much time when you want to find that cake you saw last week but you have no idea who posted it.

5. Don't be afraid to DM suppliers

Social media is made just for that... being social! Don't be afraid to chat to suppliers, in fact, it may just make their day.

6. Look for vendor credits

If you love a photo of flowers that a photographer has posted and want to know where you can get them from, look for the credits (it's a big rule within the industry, you don't share photos without crediting everyone!), and if they haven't credited them, give them a DM, I'm sure they won't mind sharing.

So basically, use it like Pinterest, but don't be afraid to connect, comment and private message people.

Enjoy your Instagram planning!
